As CEO of A Mother of Colour, I am deeply passionate about empowering mothers to reclaim their sense of self and confidence, especially amidst the many challenges of motherhood. My journey is rooted in a childhood marked by adversity, where art and creative expression became my sanctuary from life’s hardships, including navigating my parents’ divorce and an unstable home environment.

 

From an early age, I found healing through creativity, honing my skills and embracing artistic expression as a path to self-discovery. This passion led me to pursue formal education, earning an MFA in Media Design and becoming a Certified Therapeutic Art Coach through the Life Coach Training Institute and Transformation Academy.

 

Today, as a Cultural Storyteller, Fiber Artist, and Multimedia Educator, I blend ancestral traditions with contemporary practices to celebrate the richness of Afrocentric and global cultures. Through narrative, textile art, and multimedia design, I help individuals and communities reconnect with their roots, honor their heritage, and express their identity with pride and authenticity.

 

Throughout my career, I have also leveraged expertise in website management and marketing to amplify diverse voices and create meaningful change. As the founder of National Write Your Story Day—featured on Good Morning America, The Today Show, and TIME Magazine—I champion the power of storytelling as a tool for healing, connection, and empowerment.

 

Beyond my professional life, my greatest joy is my family. As a wife of over a decade and mother to my beautiful son Genesis, family remains the heart of everything I do.

 

Through A Mother of Colour, I’ve cultivated a vibrant community that celebrates the strength, resilience, and brilliance of mothers of color worldwide. Guided by our motto, “rising by lifting others,” we offer a range of content, products, and services designed to support and uplift mothers at every stage of their journey.

 

I am especially passionate about the beauty of cultural and ethnic prints, weaving heritage and ancestral lineage into every piece of art and design. Through my fiber arts and creative storytelling, I help women reconnect with their cultural stories and honor the legacies that shaped them.
