I am the founder and creative visionary behind A Mother of Colour, a cultural wellness studio devoted to healing through art, story, and ritual. My work honors the wisdom carried through ancestral traditions, creative practice, and everyday acts of remembrance—inviting people to reconnect with themselves, their communities, and the stories that shape who they are.

My journey began long before A Mother of Colour. As a child navigating my parents' divorce and the instability that followed, art became my refuge. Creativity wasn't simply a hobby—it became a way to process grief, make meaning, and imagine a future beyond my circumstances. Those early experiences planted the seeds for a lifelong commitment to storytelling, cultural remembrance, and creative healing.

That path led me to earn a Master of Fine Arts in Media Design, along with certifications as a Therapeutic Art Coach. Over the years, I have also studied psychology, theology, studio art, and illustration, bringing together these disciplines to create experiences that nurture both learning and well-being.

Today, I serve as a Fiber Artist, Cultural Storyteller, and Multimedia Folklorist, weaving together textile arts, oral traditions, digital media, and cultural education. My work celebrates Afrocentric and global folk traditions while exploring themes of ancestry, identity, resilience, and belonging. Whether creating handmade fiber pieces, designing educational resources, facilitating workshops, or producing multimedia stories, my goal is always the same: to help people reconnect with the wisdom that already lives within their cultures and communities.

I am also the founder of National Write Your Story Day, an initiative that encourages people to preserve their personal and family histories through storytelling. The movement has been recognized by Good Morning America, The Today Show, and TIME Magazine, reflecting my belief that every person's story holds the power to inspire healing, connection, and legacy.

With more than a decade of experience in creative direction, marketing, website design, and education, I remain passionate about amplifying voices that are too often overlooked. Through A Mother of Colour, I create spaces where creativity becomes a bridge between generations, where cultural traditions are honored, and where healing is rooted in both memory and imagination.

Much of my fiber art is inspired by ethnic textiles, ancestral symbolism, and the stories women carry across generations. Every handmade piece, digital illustration, ritual object, and educational project is created with intention—honoring lineage, celebrating culture, and inviting moments of reflection and restoration.

Beyond my work, I am a daughter, wife, and mother. My son, Genesis, continues to remind me that every generation deserves stories, traditions, and creative practices that affirm who they are and where they come from.

Whether you're seeking meaningful artwork, cultural education, creative collaboration, or simply a place to reconnect with your own story, I'm grateful you're here.

Welcome.

Healing Through Art, Story & Ritual.
